Who clears the snow?+
The City of Westminster plows the roads. Everything else depends on your home.
Who does what
- Townhouse owners
Your private sidewalk and any parking spaces you use. Don't shovel snow onto the sidewalks: the snow blowers can't get through heavy snow.
- Single-family owners
Your private sidewalk, your driveway and the public sidewalk in front of your house (the city owns it, but the law makes the homeowner clear it).
- The HOA
Any public sidewalks the HOA owns. Hauling excess snow away from the lots and streets is too expensive for the HOA to pay for.
- Everyone
Don't put snow on sidewalks, roads or empty parking spaces, or block mailboxes and fire hydrants. Pick up wrapped newspapers before the snow blowers come.
What goes out on which day?+
Besides regular trash and recycling, Westminster picks up different things on different days.
By the day
- Monday: tree limbs
Cut to four-foot sections, no more than 6 inches across, ends facing the same way, loose or tied with thin twine.
- Tuesday: metal
Appliances (refrigerator doors removed), bicycles, tires and car batteries.
- Wednesday: yard waste
Grass and leaves, year round, in Kraft paper lawn bags or lidless bushel containers up to 75 pounds. No plastic bags.
Can I park a trailer or RV?+
No buses, trailers, boats, tow trucks, roll-backs or recreational vehicles in the parking lots, on the common areas, or on a public street next to them. All vehicles need current plates and must run.
Where do townhouse residents park?+
The association owns the townhouse lots and assigns one numbered space per townhouse. Unnumbered spaces are first come, first served.
Where does trash go?+
Townhouses on the parking lot keep trash on their own property by the sidewalk; others put it on the sidewalk in front of their assigned space.
Do I need approval for exterior changes?+
Yes. Submit an architectural request at least 60 days before you start; the board has 60 days to decide.
